del.icio.us

I found del.icio.us to be a useful tool, not one that am dying to set up, but useful none the least. I can see myself using this more for bookmarking than anything else (I really don't like not having my home bookmarks and work bookmarks available when I want them). I definetly see the potential of this tool for research assistance...for teaching...I think I would need to learn more to use it for teaching. Maybe in the future I will incorporate this into my teaching, for now, I am glad I was exposed to this.

Web 2.0

Something cool I found on the web 2.0 best list was zillow. It tells you what your house is worth right now, as well as what you bought it for. It shows you the whole neighborhood and what their house is worth as well and what they paid for it. This is a great site for keeping track of the value of your house, past and present.

Google Docs

OK, I can't believe that I am able to do this! This is going to be awesome for teaching. I love to post class assignments on the computer but have always had to cut paste, attach and so on to be able to do so. Then there's the whole...have to have that program thing that gets in the way. This is going to be very valuable. My students will be able to go to my blog page, check their assignments, review presentations, and submit projects among many other things. I can see myself really expanding the way I use the computer and especially the Internet and the web in my classes now.

bloglines

Ok, I absolutely love bloglines. I love the fact that I can go to one place and find all of the information I need at once. Not to mention how easy this was to set up. I really enjoyed doing this and am looking forward to adding many more links in the near future...as if 34 isn't enough right now.

So many siters so little time

I have been a member of Flikr going on 2 years now, but never realized that there were so many sites out there to share information. Since taking my Kins 710 class I have discovered a whole new world and thanks to the assignment I am given and the articles (the teen library) that I am given to read. I have been able to discover a world that I will need to research more to see how it fits into my teaching.

Are social networking sites dangerous?

After reading an article this week in my Kins. 710 class, I found myself wondering if social networking sites could be dangerous. Some of the information that is posted could be considered inappropriate and if kids are posting their use of drugs or other substances to find a group to fit into, that concerns me. The article seemed to say that there are good and bads to these sites, but I kept seeing more bad then good.

kids and sports

Ok, I have a question for anyone willing to answer. At what age should kids be allowed to start playing sports competitively? Is there an age that is too young? I am a believer in allowing kids to explore different activities, but believe that competition at a young age (8 and younger) could be detrimental to a kids future desires to continue participation in the future.

Hello

Hello! Just checking to be sure that this works.
